Established in 1910, Mercia Polymer Rubber Products Company has a long-standing legacy as a leading manufacturer and innovator in polymers and rubber technology in Sri Lanka. From our humble beginnings as the first producer of rubber balloons in the country, we have consistently pushed the boundaries of technological advancement and played a crucial role in supporting the Sri Lanka Armed Forces and contributing to engineering development.

One of our earliest notable contributions came during the war in 1990 when we invented the groundbreaking Anti-Mine Shoe. Recognizing the urgent need to protect our soldiers from the devastating effects of landmines, we developed a specialized shoe that significantly reduced the risk of injuries caused by explosive devices. This innovative product not only safeguarded the lives of our brave soldiers but also set a precedent for future advancements in protective footwear.

Building upon the success of the Anti-Mine Shoe, we continued our relentless pursuit of enhancing soldier protection. In 2009, we achieved a remarkable breakthrough by developing an Anti-Mine Shoe capable of withstanding the detonation of a 170g AP MINE, thereby providing even greater protection against high explosives. This significant advancement solidified our position as leaders in the field of military footwear.

Our dedication to serving the Sri Lankan defense sector extends beyond footwear. Over the years, we have successfully produced various critical components for the defense industry, including tank track mounts. These products have not only reinforced the operational capabilities of the armed forces but also contributed to the country's self-reliance in defense manufacturing.

In 2017, Mercia Polymer Rubber Products Company played a pivotal role in enhancing Sri Lanka's national security by providing a cutting-edge sonar system for the Colombo port. Recognizing the importance of safeguarding the country's vital maritime infrastructure, we collaborated closely with the Sri Lankan Navy to develop and install this state-of-the-art technology. The sonar system proved instrumental in detecting potential threats and ensuring the safety and security of Sri Lanka's maritime trade routes.
